Defending and Defeating Network Security

This class is for anyone who is involved with configuring, designing, or supporting IP based networks. This class will look at the common configuration mistakes and design methods that often allow hackers to take advantage of various networking devices. This class primarily focuses on networking devices such as routers, switches, and access points. Even with some of the recommend best security practices many threats remain. This class will explore these threats showing the attendee how an attacker can compromise different security methods to gain access into the network. We will explore various network communication protocols such as RADIUS, DNS, DHCP, SMTP, Routing Protocols, and many others. Without these critical network services most of the computer systems connected to a network will fail to work. This is exactly what an attacker might want or a fluke event might create.

Many risks face networks, stemming either from hackers or from uncontrollable events. In this class, we will see how to disrupt, attack, and most importantly protect IP based networks and service protocols from attacks and disruptions. Attending this course will provide the knowledge and understanding of how each risk is created, mitigated, and subsequently eliminated.

This class will have hands on labs, allowing the attendees to take part in attacking and protecting networking equipment from a magnitude of threats. Attending this session requires basic networking knowledge and the ability to participate in hands-on labs consisting of attacking and protecting various pieces of networking equipment. This class will look at a large amount of networking security practices detailing why they existing, how they operate, and what can be done to undermine them.
